Transinsight is a Dresden based award winning Start-up company, creating the next generation search technologies for the life sciences. The product www.GoPubMed.com is the first knowledge based search engine in the world. Transinsight develops GoPubMed in close collaboration with the bioinformatics group of the Biotechnological Center of the Technical University Dresden. The Center hosts 20 biotec companies and several academic groups dedicated to genomics, proteomics, biophysics, tissue engineering, cellular machines as well as bioinformatics. This environment is ideal to develop the product close to customer needs.

We are a young, dynamic, international team of computer and life scientists with a mission to bring cutting-edge research in ontologies and text mining to the global market. For realizing our vision to become the best search engine (for the life sciences) we are looking for bright motivated people to join our team. Currently we are seeking:

 

IT System Administrator

Planning, setup and operation of our Linux IT infrastructure, network and worldwide VPN-connections will be your principal responsibility.

The applicant should have experience in:
• Setup and operate firewalls and VPN-equipment
• Support equipment running in Windows and Linux environments
• Support the fileserver, mailserver, web applications and backup system
• Support business-critical data network hardware

Skills in one or more of the following areas are required:
• Administration of databases
• Red Head Linux, (UNIX, MacOS)
• Apache Tomcat

Sales representative

You will be responsible for creating sales and marketing for a leading edge search engine for the life sciences.

Your responsibilities are:
• Create sales and pricing models
• Create sales channels
• Direct marketing

Requirements:
• 5+ years experience in sales in the life science industry,
• Proven track record in sales in the life science industry,
• Profound experience in selling software in the life science industry.

Working in Dresden

Although Dresden was largely destroyed during the Second World War, it is still nicknamed "Florence on the Elbe": The sumptuous art collections and impressive monumental buildings have given the city world-wide fame. Dresden is also a research and science city, as well as an important industrial stronghold. Yet first and foremost, it is a first-rate city of culture, with world-famous ensembles such as the Saxon State Opera, the State Chapel and the Kreuzchor singers. Dresden in 2006 becomes 800 years old. The river Elbe divides Dresden into the old city and the new city.

In the old city on the left banks of the Elbe, famous buildings and interesting sights are lined up: the Zwinger, the Green Vault, the Painting Gallery, the castle, the Semper Opera, the Court Chapel, Taschenberg Palace, the Dresden Church of our Lady (Frauenkirche), which is still undergoing restoration, the Brühlsche Terrasse. All of these are easy to reach on foot. The new city, on the other hand, exudes an aura of middle-class baroque and shows what Dresden was like during the industrial revolution.

The large district, dating back to the industrial revolution, between Bautznerstrasse and Priessnitzstrasse, Bischofsweg and Königsbrücker Strasse features many lovingly restored buildings that contrast with the old, dilapidated houses. Äussere Neustadt, Dresden's 'in' district, has particularly appealing contrasts: colourful and exclusive shops, fine and simple restaurants, narrow streets with pubs, restaurants, bars and clubs.

There are three remarkable castles on the Elbe slope between Albert Bridge and Blaue Wunder: Albrechtsberg Castle, Lingner Castle and Eckberg Castle. Pillnitz Castle and Moritzburg Castle in the surrounding region, are also well worth a visit. The Elbe Valley extends around Saxony's capital city and is one of the most beautiful river landscapes in Europe.

Judging from it's flair, intellectual power and charm Dresden lines up with Stanford, Cambridge and Boston. So, give it a try!
